Jorginho, an Arsenal midfielder, has revealed how he persuaded Kai Havertz to leave Stamford Bridge for the Gunners this summer.

Havertz moved to north London this summer, capping off a three-year stint with Chelsea with a £65 million move to Arsenal last month.

The 24-year-old Germany international was linked with a return to the Bundesliga before Mikel Arteta’s team indicated interest in signing him.

When he heard the rumors, Jorginho said he immediately phoned his former teammate.

Jorginho was at Chelsea for five years before joining Arsenal in January.

Jorginho explained to The Arsenal Tour Diary,

“It’s really lovely. When I heard there was a chance, I immediately called him. ‘Is this true?’ I asked. ‘Yeah, it’s possible,’ he said. ‘You need to come!’ I said.

“All I wanted was the best for everyone.” Everyone benefits. He wins because it is a nice initiative for him and will be fantastic for the club and team as well. So it was a win-win situation.”
