Jose Peseiro, coach of the Super Eagles, has announced that Kelechi Iheanacho is now ready to compete in the 2023 AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire.

Paseiro made the statement during a late Monday discussion with media in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

In Côte d’Ivoire, Kelechi will accompany us. He said that his treatment at Leicester City had concluded.

After finishing therapy for a muscle issue, he claimed Iheanacho would now be ready to compete in the AFCON with the rest of the Super Eagles team.

The team’s week-long training camp in Abu Dhabi did not include Iheanacho, according to DAILY POST, who was sidelined owing to an injury.

The Leicester City forward remained at his club to ensure a full recovery in time for Saturday’s AFCON kickoff in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.

After attending a special dinner hosted by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in Lagos on Tuesday (today), the three-time champions Super Eagles are slated to fly for Cote d’Ivoire on Wednesday to compete in the 34th AFCON finals.

At Abidjan’s Alassane Ouattara Stadium, the Super Eagles will likely face Equatorial Guinea in the first match of the month-long AFCON tournament, which starts on February 11.
