In passing away is Alhaji Shehu Othman, a former commissioner of the ancient Benue State.

On Wednesday, at the age of 91, Othman, a native of Keana in Nasarawa State, died at the Trust Charitos Hospital in Jabi, Abuja.

The stateman’s funeral would take place at Abuja’s National Mosque the day after the Zuhur prayer, according to his family, who broke the news of his death.

“Inna lillahi wa ina ilaihir taki in” is the formal statement read by the family. It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Alhaji Shehu Othman, who passed away at the age of 91 on November 29, 2023, following a brief illness, at the Trust Charitos Hospital in Jabi, Abuja. Our family is fully compliant with Allah’s decision.

“Amen. May Allah grant the departed Aljannah Firdaus, rest, and forgiveness of souls.”

At the National Mosque in Abuja, the Janaza prayer—an Islamic burial rite—was supposed to follow the Zuhur prayer at 1:30 pm.

After then, the funeral took place at the Gudu Cemetery.

June 26, 1932 was the birthdate of Alhaji Shehu Othman. Until his death, he was known as Magajin Garin Keana, a highly esteemed title.

The late nonagenarian had a varied career in cabinet service. He was also appointed to other federal boards.
