Angel di Maria, a former Real Madrid winger, has said that playing alongside countrymen Lionel Messi for Argentina and Paris Saint-Germain is the best thing that has happened to him in his glittering career.
During their tenure at PSG, Di Maria, 35, only played one season with Messi.
However, the former Manchester United and Juventus great struggled to get consistent playing time in the 2021-2022 season.
Di Maria started 22 of the French Ligue 1 champions’ 31 matches in all competitions.
“The best thing that has happened in my career is that I have played with Leo Messi [Lionel Messi] in both the national team and the club,” Di Maria stated (via Albiceleste Talk).
“I participated in the club with him [Messi] for a year and did not play,” he added. I knew if he came, I wouldn’t be able to play much.”
After leaving Juventus as a free agent this summer, Di Maria is close to joining Benfica, while Messi will join MLS team Inter Miami when his contract with PSG expires at the end of this month.
