In the course of their investigations, the Nasarawa State Police Command apprehended 18 individuals and seized 27 firearms and ammunition.
The outstanding accomplishments of the Nasarawa State Police Command in the continuous fight against crime were highlighted during a press briefing on Monday, December 4, 2023, at the Police Command Headquarters in Lafia, by the Acting Commissioner of Police, DCP Shettima Jauro Mohammed.
According to Mohammed, 18 individuals were apprehended during the most recent operations.
Five people are being held on suspicion of kidnapping, ten are being held on suspicion of armed robbery, one is being held on suspicion of rape, and two are being held for culpable homicide.
Notable cases include the sad murder of Mohammed Sani in Agyaragu Tofa and the subsequent arrest of two suspects, Hassan Ismail and Mohammed Sani, on charges of witchcraft.
Eight people were apprehended and an AK-47 rifle and twenty-six rounds of ammunition were recovered after the police stopped two motorcyclists on the Adudu-Azara route.
After receiving a report from Justina Samuel, a rape suspect named Habu Yusuf was apprehended on October 31, 2023.
Habu Yusuf had abused not one but two of his older brother’s children, according to early investigations.
According to the acting commissioner of police, Bala Salihu was taken into custody on September 20, 2023, at a place set aside for ransom payments, in connection with kidnapping incidents.
A supply store in Doka Village, Doma LGA was attacked by three masked men on November 14, 2023. An AK-47 gun and ammo were recovered after the police and members of the community worked together to pursue the offenders.
Additionally, Ahmed Maisaje and Abdulmumini Abubakar were apprehended by the authorities after they admitted to their roles in an abduction case involving Deddere.
Following the completion of investigations, Mohammed promised to bring all culprits to justice by expressing his gratitude for the public’s help and urging them to stay watchful.
