a former president of the Senate and a key member of the Benue All Progressives Congress (APC), has denounced the assaults on Governor Hyacinth Alia by party members serving as chairmen of local government and the state chairman.
This was part of a statement read by Chief Ebute in Makurdi, where they voiced their strong disapproval of a message from APC LG chairmen and the poisonous party resolution that accused Governor Hyacinth Alia of showing disrespect to party structures in the state.
Stakeholders expressed their disapproval in the communique, pointing fingers at the local government party chairmen and party executive committee for what they saw as their failure to adequately engage with the public before resorting to needless media appearances, which they claimed had only served to exacerbate a situation that could have been handled internally.
They made reference to a social media communiqué from APC local government chairmen and the resolution from the State Working Committee regarding party operations, meetings, and leadership.
According to them, Gov. Alia was trying to divert attention away from his campaign pledges to do something important.
Several important and essential stakeholders’ meetings were held under Gov. Alia’s administration, according to the stakeholders. under these sessions, party elders and executives voted to support the governor and praised his inclusive leadership style.
They stated that these were only a few of the numerous reasons why, as concerned elders, they felt compelled to speak out to the public and urge all concerned party members to refrain from going on any more public trips and to halt any future actions that could further divide the party.
In order to give elders and key stakeholders a chance to weigh in and find suitable solutions, the stakeholders urged the state executive committee of the party and chairmen of local governments to stop doing anything further.
