The President has extended his best wishes to Usman Ododo, the newly elected governor of Kogi State.
The Social Democratic Party’s Muri Ajaka and the People’s Democratic Party’s Dino Melaye were no match for Ododo, the candidate for governor from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
On Sunday, Prof. Johnson Urama, the Returning Officer for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), announced that Ododo had won the poll.
Having fulfilled the legal requirements, he announced, “Ahmed Usman Ododo of APC is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”
The Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) Murtala Ajaka came in second with 259,052 votes against Ododo’s 446,237.
Following the results in Kogi, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu tweeted his congratulations to the APC candidate, Usman Ododo.
Over 187,000 more people voted for him than for his closest competitor, SDP Candidate Muri Ajaka.
