Brighton & Hove Albion have made contact with Ajax as they increase their pursuit of Calvin Bassey.
The Seagulls have resorted to Bassey after Chelsea rejected their deal for Lewi Colwill.
On Monday, it was reported that the Premier League club is interested in Bassey.
Fabrizio Romano, a transfer analyst, stated that Brighton has already begun negotiations with Ajax for the player.
“Brighton have already begun contact with Calvin Bassey as a potential new center back.” The Levi Colwill situation appears complex as Chelsea maintains their stance that he is not for sale. “#BHAFC,” Romano posted on his Twitter account.
“De Zerbi appreciates Bassey, but is waiting for Ajax to clarify the potential asking price.”
Last summer, the 23-year-old was on Brighton’s radar before joining Ajax.
