The United Kingdom, through its Department for Education, is offering teaching jobs in priority disciplines to Nigerians and other nations in the 2023/24 UK Teacher recruitment exercise. The program is part of the UK education department’s efforts to develop and promote a more equitable method of providing qualified teacher status (QTS) to teachers in Nigeria and other countries.

Qualified teacher status (QTS) is a legal requirement for many English schools and is regarded desirable for instructors in the majority of English schools. The Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) is in charge of awarding QTS. They also grant QTS to qualified teachers living outside of England.

The start of UK teacher recruitment in 2023/24 will be widely anticipated.

Priority will be given to applicants from Nigeria and other countries with subject specialization in languages, mathematics, and science, as well as teaching qualifications to teach 11 to 16-year-olds, who will be able to check their eligibility standing for the qualified teacher status (QTS) before applying for the programme.
