Sunshine and haze are expected across the country from Sunday to Tuesday, according to the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet.

Sunny skies with a hazy environment were forecasted for the northern area during the forecast period, according to NiMet’s weather prediction announced on Sunday in Abuja.

It also predicts that the North Central region will see bright skies with a hazy atmosphere during the forecast period.

It foretold partly overcast skies with isolated sunny patches over the southern inland states.

In the afternoon and evening, NiMet forecasted overcast skies over coastal towns with the possibility of thunderstorms in several states, including Edo, Ondo, Imo, Ebonyi, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River.

During Monday’s forecast period, the agency anticipated dust haze across the northern region.

Over the North Central region, sunny skies with a hazy environment are anticipated over the forecast period.

The southern inland states and coastal towns will expect partly cloudy sky with occasional sunny patches, while the states of Delta, Bayelsa, Lagos, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom may have morning fog.

It warned that thunderstorms would be possible later in the day throughout sections of the states of Rivers, Bayelsa, and Akwa Ibom.

On Tuesday, throughout the forecast period, NiMet predicts that the northern region will be covered in dust haze with a visibility range of 2km to 5 km.

During that time, it foretold that the North Central region will be covered with dust haze.

During the projected timeframe, the southern inland states and coastal cities should expect partly cloudy skies interspersed with sunny patches.

People need to take the appropriate safety measures since dust particles are floating in the air. The current weather conditions warrant caution for those who suffer from asthma and other respiratory illnesses.

Flash floods are possible with moderate to heavy precipitation. It is highly recommended that individuals exercise extreme caution and refrain from driving or walking in floodwaters.

“Preventing loss of life and property during the rainy season requires proactive measures from disaster risk managers, agencies, and individuals,” it stated.
