Hon. Mai Mala Buni, governor of Yobe State, has issued an appeal to calm following a demonstration by commercial tricycle drivers that on Tuesday obstructed economic and social activities in Damaturu.
Instead of doing anything that could cause trouble in the state, Governor Buni said that people should use the proper channels to air their issues.
Work within the confines of the law and respect constituted authority were emphasized by Mamman Muhammad, Director-General of Media and Press Affairs to the Governor, Buni, in a statement.
Anything that might cause a disturbance in the state’s public peace would be met with his stern warning.
Governor Buni voiced his displeasure with Tuesday’s demonstration, recalled the difficulties of the past, and emphasized the need of protecting the state’s hard-won peace and harmony by encouraging groups, associations, parents, and children to learn the hard way what happens when people cause disorder.
The governor reaffirmed the administration’s preparedness to confront lawbreakers head-on.
He ordered Alh. Baba Malam Wali, the state government secretary, and the chiefs of security agencies to work together to establish thorough security measures in order to resolve the current conflicts between the Yobe State Road Transport Agency (YOROTA), the operators of Keke NAPEP, and the security agencies.
