Three new executive commissioners and one current executive commissioner have been nominated by President Bola Tinubu to serve on the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), pending confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.

This was announced on Tuesday by President Trump’s media adviser, Ajuri Ngelale.

Executive Commissioners Bashir Indabawa (North West), Exploration and Acreage Management; Dr. Kelechi Ofoegbu (Southeast), Corporate Services and Administration (Redeployed); Executive Commissioner Enorense Amadasu (South-South), Development and Production; and Executive Commissioner Babajide Fasina (South West), Economic Regulation and Strategic Planning; have all been appointed.

Regulatory framework and culture that comprehensively disincentivizes errant behavior and incentivizes diligence and rules-based business practice across the industry was approved by the President, according to Ngelale, who said the President based his decision on a well-informed assessment of all relevant factors affecting the sector.
