On Sunday, Alhaji Usman Baba Pategi, well known by his stage name Samanja Mazan Fama, passed away, and Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, expressed his condolences.

Kaduna State’s Chief Press Secretary Muhammad Lawal Shehu announced the news in a press statement on Sunday, expressing the governor’s sadness at the tragic development.

According to the release, his acting skills in the 1980s enthralled the nation.

His portrayal as Samanja in the now-cancelled NTA drama series on life in the barracks made him a household name in countless households around the world.

“He was born in 1942 into the Royal Pategi Family and saw service in the Nigerian Army before joining the former Northern Broadcasting Corporation, where he refined his craft as an actor, writer, and producer.

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has issued a statement expressing his condolences to the family and asking for prayers from all good Nigerians.

“May Allah (SWT) grant him Jannat-ul-Firdaus and forgive his sins,” he prayed.
