In an effort to lower the national unemployment rate, the Nasarawa State House of Assembly has pressed FULafia, the Federal University of Lafia, to generate employment opportunities for its graduates and others.

Mr. Musa Ibrahim, who is hosting the management of FULafia in Lafia, made the call while serving as the chairman of the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

“In order to tackle the rate of unemployment in the country, you should absorb some of these graduates and others and create jobs as you go,” he said.

He praised the university for maintaining strong academic standards and promised the House will provide it with all the resources it needed to thrive, which would benefit the state and the nation as a whole.

“I would want to express my gratitude for your visit and assure you that the assembly is fully committed to helping the university achieve its goals.

The university’s educational program meets our expectations.

“We are ready to support, partner and collaborate with the university for the overall development of the institution,” he stated.

Earlier, Prof. Samaila Usman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Partnerships, explained that the purpose of the visit was to rally support from members of the House, in particular, for the institution’s long-term growth.

In order for the institution to reach new heights, we have put some pressing matters on hold.

“Developmental topics have been covered in our discussions. The institution is actively working to ensure the security of students, staff, and others, according to the Deputy VC.

He assured everyone that the university was doing everything in its power to protect the safety of its employees and students.
