The death of Bassy Sardauna, a secondary school teacher who was murdered by his students on Wednesday in Jalingo, has been confirmed by the Taraba State Command of the Nigerian Police Force.

On Thursday, Abdullahi Usman, the command’s official spokesman, confirmed the occurrence, saying that the victim was a member of the staff of Model Secondary School, Jalingo.

At the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Jalingo, the teacher’s death was confirmed, and he said that the major suspect was an ex-student of the institution who had colluded with his pals.

Usman said that a probe into the incident had been launched by superiors.

The police spokesman added that the investigation into the killing is ongoing and that anyone with knowledge about the location of the students involved is encouraged to contact the police.

According to the MISMOB inquiry, the dead was attacked after he had just decided to punish some students at the institution. Apparently, some students who harbored ill will toward the educator accosted him on his way home.

The teacher passed away a few hours after being brought to the hospital, according to medical officials there who also confirmed the occurrence.

Some staff members at the school verified the occurrence, saying that the bad attitude of some pupils, especially those in older classes, is becoming unpleasant; nevertheless, school administration could not be reached at the time this story was filed.

They demanded that the police find and arrest all of the involved pupils.
