On Thursday, the authorities in Abuja’s Gwarinpa secondary school disputed allegations that members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) had killed two students.
The students were reported to be alive and in recovery in a medical facility in the FCT, according to Ms Comfort Okomanyi, who is the spokesman for the NSCDC’s FCT command.
Okomanyi reported that on Thursday, the injured students were visited by Mr. Olusola Odumosu, the FCT Commandant of the NSCDC.
Two students from Gwarinpa Junior Secondary School were shot by NSCDC officers after a confrontation between cult groups, as reported in the media.
Okomanyi announced that Mr. Ahmed Audi, commandant-general of the NSCDC, has assembled an investigation team to probe the matter.
Audi went on to say that the NSCDC was hell-bent on instituting an internal disciplinary structure to deal with any employees implicated in the unfortunate incident.
Officials from the Corps will pay for the medical expenditures of the two students who were hurt inadvertently during the intervention, he added, and they apologize to the students’ families.
