Yaya Toure, a former Manchester City player, predicts that Pep Guardiola’s team may see a modest decline in performance during the 2023–2024 Premier League season.
Toure also likened Barcelona’s 2009 treble-winning team, of which he was a member, to Man City’s 2023–2024 campaign.
Man City’s 2022–2023 season saw them win the treble, making it their best season ever.
The Citizens defeated Manchester United in the FA Cup final, defeated Inter Milan in the Champions League final, and won the Premier League title ahead of Arsenal.
“We were successful in everything, but suddenly something went wrong. However, that is typical for people; you just need the appropriate drive. The boss or the head coach is sometimes to blame.
“Since it’s difficult to repeat, we tried to put the same commitment and drive in again. It will be challenging, but [Manchester] City already has the knowledge of consistently winning the Premier League,” Toure told Daily Mail.
