An AI program to detect terrorists and their hideouts has been supposedly developed by a Nigerian researcher living in the UK, Yunusa Jibrin.

According to Jibrin, his research has shown impressive accuracy in preliminary evaluations by using a Vision Transformer (VT) model to identify terrorists. He also mentioned that he used AI-driven image synthesis to create thousands of visual representations of bandits in desert environments.

During an interview with Vanguard, the University of Sussex alumna stated that his research will assist the federal government in focusing military operations on apprehending and removing potential terrorist hideouts around the nation.

“We are currently working on formalizing these findings and intend to publish and incorporate the algorithms that have been developed into the operational frameworks of the Nigerian government,” he announced.

Terrorism has been a problem for Nigeria for over ten years.
