Simba FC of Tanzania released Okwa from his contract after he had only been with the team for a year.
The midfielder’s future with Rivers United is uncertain, although head coach Stanley Eguma is reportedly thinking about signing him until the season ends.
At his previous team, the 26-year-old midfielder will try to secure a contract.
Before moving to Tanzania, Okwa was a player for Rivers United.
In the Tanzanian League, he was also a member of Ihefu SC.
