A protest allegedly held outside the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lokoja, Kogi State, has been denied by the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

On Thursday, Isaiah Davies Ijele, director general of the MuriSam campaign council of the SDP, made a statement in which he claimed that the people instigating problems in Kogi State are not SDP supporters but rather loyalists to the incumbent party.

According to Ijele, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) is an ideology-based political party that promotes nonviolence and the pursuit of justice by all established democratic means.

Because of this, the SDP is pursuing legal action to rectify the situation. With the exception of the holdup caused by Mrs. Faith Kotso, the legal head of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lokoja, the commission has been helpful thus far.

She obstructed our first efforts, waited for our forensic experts in Lokoja to access and physically examine the election documents, and then let thugs loyal to the current administration take over the process.

It appears that Yahaya Bello poses the greatest danger to our democracy at the moment. Anarchy reigns in Kogi state under Yahaya Adoza Bello’s leadership. Lokoja is no longer a safe haven for the tribunal or the electoral materials. He said that the INEC facilities and all evidence would have been destroyed if the Nigerian Army hadn’t intervened in time.
