According to Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, minister of interior, the process of automating passport applications is nearly complete.
He claims that next week the new passport application process will be available.
The minister claims this would lead to an end to the practice of applicants visiting immigration passport offices solely to submit biometric data.
Tunji-Olo stated, “We gave a date,” during his Tuesday night appearance on Channels Television. The month of December was mentioned. Our statement was that. I can assure you that we are nearly finished. We have actually tested it.
Next week or around is when we want to launch. That, as I indicated before, will make biometrics the only thing Nigerians need to fill out at passport centers. All it takes is a fingerprint.
“Uploading your passports is only one of many things that may be done from the convenience of your own home. It was supposed to go live around two weeks ago, but I rejected it after seeing several mistakes in the presentation.
