Fear gripped Kajola town, Atakunmosa East local government area, Osun State, on Thursday morning when locals demonstrated against the town’s scheduled coronation.

According to MISMOB’s reporting, Aderibigbe Omirin, an official in the state government, is set to be introduced as the Loja of Kajola.

As the match got underway, the Osogbo-Ilesha road was blocked by protesting people who were expressing their dissatisfaction about the government’s intended decision.

Speaking with reporters, a prince of the town named Akinyemi Benjamin said that Aderibigbe Omirin’s installation was unlawful because he was a traditional ruler from Ilase.

Aderibibe was a king of Ilase once, and he couldn’t possibly be in charge of another town.

The case is currently proceeding before the Court of Appeal, Akure, and Omirin’s attorney is Dosu Babatunde, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, he claimed.

Iyabo Adegbobi, the Iyaloja of Kajola, has also pleaded with the state government to step in and stop a potential communal conflict in the town.

Upon being called, Kolapo Alimi, the state’s commissioner for information and public enlightenment, confirmed that the protest had been acknowledged by the administration.

He is managing the case, my colleague at the Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
