Violence erupted on Tuesday as police officials attempting to enforce a motorbike prohibition in Lagos State battled with motorcyclists along Santos Avenue in Abule Egba.

The officers were assaulted by the motorcyclists, who are commonly referred to as Okada riders, who attempted to prevent them from enforcing the prohibition, according to a post by the Lagos State Police Command on its official X handle.

Police deployed teargas to disperse the mob and protect themselves, as stated in the post.

One of the trike passengers apparently became terrified upon seeing teargas being used and leaped out of the vehicle, according to the report.

Sadly, she was run over by a careless driver in a Leyland tipper with the license plate AAB 376 CB.

Despite efforts to recover the car, the tipper’s driver fled the area. Additionally, communication has been initiated with the deceased’s family. Also, we are currently conducting a thorough investigation into the situation.
