According to sociopolitical analyst Shehu Sani, Ghali Umar Na’abba, who was the Speaker of the House of Representatives before his death, abolished term restrictions for presidents and governors.

According to Sani, if it weren’t for Na’abba, the Nigerian constitution would have removed the term limitations from presidents and governors.

In an X post, the late legislator defended the dignity of parliament, according to the former lawmaker.

The former speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ghali Umar Na’abba, was his name on the document. He had a full and fruitful life.

At a pivotal juncture, he rescued Nigeria’s democracy. The dignity and autonomy of parliament were both preserved and protected by him.

Were it not for Ghali and others like him, our constitution would not have retained term limits for presidents and governors. Ghali fought for liberty and justice.

Quite a setback. His family has my deepest sympathies. Aljanna firdausi, may Allah bless him. Hello, Amin.

Wednesday marked the passing of the former House Speaker.

After a brief illness, he passed away on Wednesday morning at the National Hospital in Abuja. He was 65 years old.
