Wayne Rooney, manager of DC United, has declared Lionel Messi to be the greatest footballer of all time.
Rooney, a Manchester United star, made the remark when discussing Messi’s impending arrival at Inter Miami.
Messi departed Paris Saint-Germain for Inter Miami after his contract with the French Ligue 1 winners expired.
When questioned about Messi’s impending arrival in Miami, Rooney told Sky Sports, “It’s obviously a great move for the MLS.”
“It will be a huge commercial success.” It will increase interest in the game from all over the world – I am sure it will, because you are getting perhaps the best player to ever play the game.
“I am confident he will come here wanting to be competitive and help Miami climb the table.”
“I think not just fans, but coaches, players – everyone is excited to have him in the league.”
