One of the factors contributing to the security difficulties in the state, according to Dr. Muhammadu Abali Ibn Muhammadu Idrissa, Emir of Fika and Chairman of the Yobe State Council of Chiefs, is drug misuse.

According to the emir, who was entertaining members of the reporters’ chapel at his palace in Potiskum town, this was said.

He said that the recent assault on the Gurjaje community in the state’s Fika Local Government Area—an attack that killed one person and destroyed more than a hundred houses—confirmed a connection between drug consumption and the attack.

He claims that 60% of the impacted population consists of young people.

He emphasized the need for the state government and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to develop coordinated strategies to combat drug abuse.

In addition, he emphasized the country’s significant economic difficulties and urged the government to assist development in the impacted areas.
