Gunmen accused of kidnapping snatched seven congregants from the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Ogun State.

On Saturday, July 1, 2023, gunmen raided the RCCG parish at Abule-Ori in the state’s Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.

Soji Ganzallo, the Commander of the Ogun State So-Safe Corps, confirmed the event to newsmen, saying his officers had already rescued the seven church members and ki!led one of the kidnappers during a rescue operation.

Ganzallo was quoted as claiming that the event happened around 12 a.m. in a statement released by the So-Safe Director of Information and Public Relations, Moruf Yusuf.

“The Corps’ special operations team, Owode-Egba Zonal Command, led by ACC Jimoh Rasaki Omoniyi, received a distress call that some members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Desires of Nations Parish, under Ogun Province 22, Abule-Ori in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, were attacked during a vigil; seven members of the church were k!dnapped and the pastor k!llled,”

According to him, officers of the Corps were tasked with pursuing the culprits and rescuing the victims unharmed, and “the officers swung into action immediately.”
