Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun has ordered investigations into the pockets of violence recorded during the November 11 governorship elections in Bayelsa, Imo, and Kogi states.

Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi issued the order in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.

Under the direction of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Criminal inquiry Department, the IGP has ordered all officers assigned to the Electoral Offences Desk to launch an inquiry.

During the elections, Egbetokun praised the efforts of other security personnel for their assistance to the Nigeria Police Force.

He praised the hard work and dedication of the security personnel who were tasked with overseeing the election.

Despite early danger assessments and predicted problems from various sides, Egbetokun claimed the polling process in the three states was smooth.

He praised the police and election officials for their outstanding work in keeping the peace and keeping citizens secure.
