The Joint Japan/World Bank Scholarship Program is available to outstanding and appropriately qualified students from developing countries who are enrolled in a master’s degree program in development-related topics. Expect to apply during the March to May application window.

JJWBGSP grants scholarships for 48 Participating Programs at universities in the United States, Europe, Africa, Oceania, and Japan in essential areas of development such as economic policy management, tax policy, and infrastructure management, subject to available financing.

Please keep in mind that if you are not accepted into one of these 48 programs, you will be unable to apply for a JJWBGSP Scholarship in 2023.

DETAILS ABOUT THE WORLD BANK SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM 2023-24
Tuition, a monthly living stipend, round-trip airfare, health insurance, and a travel allowance are all included in the JJWBGSP scholarships.

Conditions for Eligibility
Candidates must meet the program requirements mentioned below in order to be eligible for the World Bank Scholarships Program 2023/24.

Applicants of any nationality are welcome to apply.

Be a citizen of a developing country that is a World Bank member.
No dual nationality in any civilized country;
Maintain good health;
Have a Bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree that was earned at least three years prior to the

Application Due date.
Possess 3 years or more of recent development-related work experience following the completion of a Bachelor’s (or equivalent) degree;
Participate in

At the time of applying for the scholarship, you must be doing development-related work in a paid full-time role.
Scholarship Advantages

The World Bank Scholarships Program, which is fully supported, provides the following advantages:

Air travel in economy class between your home country and the host university at the commencement of your study program and soon after the scholarship period ends.

In addition to round-trip plane travel, scholars will receive a US $500 travel stipend for each trip, as well as tuition for your graduate program and the cost of basic medical insurance purchased through the university.

A monthly subsistence grant to cover all living expenses is provided while on campus during the scholarship duration (accommodations, food, etc., including books). The allowance amount varies depending on the host country.
Application for a VISA (s) costs

Costs incurred in bringing and/or supporting a scholar’s family members;
Extracurricular activities or training;

Courses that do not fulfill the minimum credit requirements for a graduate degree;
The graduate program does not provide language instruction.
Extra trips during the program of study;

Costs for research, supplemental instructional materials, field visits, workshop/seminar participation, or internships; or Educational equipment such as computers.
Fee for a resident permit.

Methods for Making Applications
How to Apply: Submit Just One Online Application: An application for the second application window will be approved and reviewed provided the applicant submits only one completed application electronically through the online application site.

An application is deemed complete if it has the following items:

Two expert recommendations needed for upload) (ii) the applicant’s bachelor’s degree diploma, as well as the diploma of the applicant’s most advanced graduate degree, if appropriate.

(Do not include a transcript or upload a transcript in place of a diploma).

(iii) Curriculum Vitae in the manner specified in Annex 4 and written in English (or French for the GPE program at FERDI only). If the work was not compensated, do not list it on your resume. Instead, make a category in your CV called “Volunteer Work” and add unpaid internships or other unpaid employment under that area.

(iv) Unconditional (except for financial reasons) Letter of Acceptance to the JJ/WBGSP participating master’s program for the forthcoming academic year.
