Barcelona manager Xavi wants to sign Oriol Romeu, a former Chelsea and Southampton midfielder, this summer.
Romeu, 31, moved from Southampton to Girona last summer but is reportedly likely to join Barcelona.
The former Chelsea player began his career with Barcelona before joining the Blues in 2011.
In two seasons with Chelsea, he won the FA Cup and the Champions League.
In 2011, he was sold to Southampton, where he spent seven seasons.
His medicals with Barcelona have been completed, according to football transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.
The only thing left for his move to be completed is for the contracts to be signed, with the transaction anticipated to be completed this week.
