The Ondo State Police Command has launched an inquiry into the death of a mother and her infant inside their Owo, Ondo State, room.
Tawa and her husband were found unconscious while their kid was already dead in the room after going to bed healthy and hearty on Thursday evening.
Tawa died later in the hospital, and her husband is thought to be in grave condition.
According to a source who talked to The Punch, the pair purchased a new generator a few days before the incident and turned it on Thursday evening before going to bed, increasing suspicions that the incident was staged.

The family was met in critical condition on Friday, according to the source. Since the baby was already dead, the couple was found comatose and transported to the Federal Medical Centre in Owo, where the wife died and medics battled to save the husband’s life.
“When the deceased’s elder sister did not see her at work on Friday afternoon, she grew concerned,” the source said. So she and a few coworkers went to their residence to investigate.
“When they came to their residence, they encountered the door closed and had to aggressively break in and were astonished to see the couple in a condition of coma while their infant was already dead. So They hurried them to the FMC, where the wife died and the husband was in critical condition.”
Ms Funmilayo Odunlami, the state Public Relations Officer of the police command, confirmed the occurrence but stated that the cause of death was unknown and that an inquiry had begun.
“We can’t say exactly what triggered the situation right now,” the PPRO added. Some attribute it to generator fumes, although an empty bottle of snipper was also discovered in the room. Thus the couple may have sprayed snipper into the room before retiring to bed. As a result, the investigation is still underway.”
