Ashley Young, a free agent who left Aston Villa last summer, has agreed to join Everton and is set to have a medical on Tuesday.

Young’s contract at Villa Park expired, and BBC Sport believes he conducted negotiations with Luton Town, as well as Saudi Arabia.

Young, 38, has won the Premier League, FA Cup, and Serie A with Manchester United, as well as the Serie A title with Inter Milan.

Everton’s first signing under manager Sean Dyche would be the full-back.

Dyche, a former Burnley manager, took over in January to replace the ousted Frank Lampard, and led the club to Premier League survival on the final day of the season.

More to come…
