Granit Xhaka, an Arsenal midfielder, is expected to leave the club, with Bayer Leverkusen willing to pay much more.
According to Football.London, the Bundesliga club will pay a cost of £21.5 million, which is much more than the initial offer of £13 million.
Xhaka, who joined Arsenal in 2016 from Borussia Monchengladbach, is poised to return to Germany.
The 30-year-old departs following what was perhaps his best season at the Emirates Stadium, with seven goals and seven assists in the Premier League.
Declan Rice, the West Ham captain, is poised to take his spot.
Arsenal are closing up on a £105 million deal for Rice.
