On Monday, ex-Senator Shehu Sani of Kaduna Central claimed that President Bola Tinubu could have been spared had he been there at the last AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire.

If Tinubu had gone to the last game, according to Sani, Nigerians would have trampled him.

“Only God can save me from this koboko,” Sani posted on X after the president had attended the match.

On Sunday, the Elephants of Côte d’Ivoire defeated the Super Eagles of Nigeria, 2-1.

After William Troost-Ekong’s header in the first half was nullified by Franck Kessie, Ivory Coast rallied to defeat Nigeria 2-1 on a goal scored by Sebastian Haller.

But other Nigerians were blaming Tinubu for the Eagles’ loss on their X handles.

“So Na tinubu made us lose that match,” @joseph_ebuka3 said.

“We’re not happy for Nigeria ooo, Kobokolaugh. We’re happy for Na Super Eagles ooo.”

“This defeat was caused by Na Tinubu,” tweeted @This_isBravado. For the love of Tinubu, Ghanaians, please give us Shata bandle.
