The tragedy happened at around 5:28 p.m. in the Yaa-Lateef House on Tinu Street in the Akerebiata neighborhood of Ilorin, which is part of the Ilorin East Local Government.
Mr. Idowu, a local resident, called the fire department to the scene.
The fire department’s spokesman, Hassan Adekunle, said that the firefighters pulled the body out of the well and gave it to a relative named Mr. Yussuf.
The victim apparently went to the well to get some water and ended up falling into it.
The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, was deeply saddened by the event and issued a call to the people to exercise greater caution in their daily lives and to stop sending children under the age of 15 to their backyard wells to retrieve water.
