Toyin Bamidele, a female HND 1 student at the Federal Polytechnic Offa, was recently murdered, and one suspect has been apprehended.

The victim was a student who was found dead in her rented accommodation in Offa, Kwara State.

The state police commissioner, Victor Olaiya, in a statement released in Ilorin on Sunday, called the incident a “culpable homicide” and promised that the Command will do “everything” to investigate the incident.

A student at Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State, named Toyin Bamidele, ‘F’ a resident of Dapson Extension Area, Offa, aged 23 years, studying Food Technology, was discovered lying in a pool of blood at the premises of her rented apartment on November 16, 2023, at about 1720Hrs, the commissioner said.

“Upon learning of the event, the Divisional Police Officer of the Offa Division sent a team of detectives to the location.

Initial examination at the site revealed bruising and other signs of physical abuse to the victim’s face and neck. The body was transferred to Wale Clinic and Hospital, where the deceased was certified dead by a medical practitioner.

The morgue has received the deceased’s body for examination. There has been one arrest made in relation with this investigation. He is currently assisting law enforcement with their inquiry.

Members of the public were warned by the police commissioner to be on high alert because predators are out in force.
