The average retail price of one liter of diesel rose from N828.82 in January 2023 to N1,153.01 in January 2024, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
This information was included in Wednesday’s release of NBS’s Diesel Price Watch for January 2024.
The study stated that the price for one liter in January 2024 was N1,153.01, which was a 39.11% rise from the N828.82 paid in January 2023.
“From the N1,126.69 per litre recorded in December 2023, the price increased by 2.34 percent on a month-on-month basis,” it stated.
According to the report’s state profile study, in January 2024, the average price of diesel was N1,433.33 per liter in Kebbi, N1,300 in Kogi, and N1,226.70 in Abuja.
The report said that borno had the lowest price per litre at N927.27, followed by taraba at N988.33, and then Kano at N940.89.
The North-Central region had the highest price per liter at N1,205.11, while the North-East region had the lowest price at N1,074.03, according to the study by zones.
