Peter Obi, a presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP), has appealed to the Supreme Court, but the party claims that the court has yet to rule on his case.
In a statement released on Tuesday by Umar Farouk Ibrahim, the party’s national secretary, the party claimed that the supreme court had solely reviewed the PDP’s appeal decision.
According to MISMOB, the Supreme Court rejected the LP’s and PDP’s attempts to overturn President Bola Tinubu’s election as a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on October 26.
However, according to the LP’s statement on Tuesday, the judge “verbally stated that the decision in the LP appeal would abide by the judgment just delivered in respect of the PDP appeal” after reading the judgment on PDP’s appeal.
Unprecedented and intolerable, the party said the development.
It is disheartening and embarrassing for the LP that the Supreme Court, after hearing our party’s appeal, refused to issue a verdict and did not provide us with a copy of its conclusion.
The LP considers, with all due respect, that the actions of the Supreme Court are unprecedented and deeply regrettable.
“This is a clear violation of LP and her candidate’s constitutional right to a fair hearing,” the statement continued.
