The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State has called on Nigerians to maintain their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Following its stakeholders meeting in Enugu on Saturday, the party published a statement in which it made its appeal.
The statement was signed by the state chairman of the party, Barr Ugochukwu Agballah, Barr George Ogara, the APC Deputy governorship candidate in the last election, Chief Austin Alumona, the Deputy state chairman and Evang Walter Madu, the acting state secretary.
They said they have faith in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s strong policy initiatives and programs to “address the inherited socio-economic and security challenges facing the nation at the present time.”
The stakeholders pleaded with Nigerians to be patient while the situation is being turned around by the administration.
To H. E. Sen Ahmed Bola Tinubu, President and Commander in Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and his dedicated team, we pledge our unwavering confidence and support.
“We specifically commend our amiable Vice President, Sen. Kashim Shettima, the national chairman, Dr. Umar Ganduje, our brother Chief Emma Enukwu, the national deputy chairman, South, and Dr. Ijeoma Arodiogbu for all their efforts and support in restoring discipline and party harmony in Enugu State APC and the country in general,” they said.
In addition, Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology Chief Uche Nnaji was praised “for all his support to APC and his committed and dedicated leadership of the party in the state, before, during, and after the general elections and till date,” according to the release.
He has our undying allegiance and support, and we are immensely proud of him once again.
The APC in Enugu State would like to extend its heartfelt congratulations to Senator Hope Uzodimma on his stunning victory in the recent elections.
We also appreciate his unwavering loyalty to the APC in Enugu State and the South-East.
“We urge the Almighty God to continue to bless him good health and wisdom to pilot the affairs of Imo State for the welfare of the people.
“The stakeholders of APC in Enugu State warmly congratulate the Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Francis Nwifuru, for his Appeal Court victory and affirmation of his resounding victory at the polls during the 2023 general elections.”
The party, however, did not agree with the schedule for local elections that was put forward by the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC).
According to the APC, “the jam-packed activities intended to wear down the opposition parties” are deeply offensive. APC Enugu State is still suing ENSIEC for its poor handling of the previous LG election, which was essentially a sham, and the disenfranchisement of APC candidates.
Even though state authorities have been using various measures to prolong the case, it is still ongoing.
“ENSIEC is not and has never purported to be a transparent electoral umpire and Enugu State voters don’t have any iota of confidence in the body.
As far back as records go, ENSIEC has never held local government elections in Enugu State.
Therefore, “in due course, the party will in no distant time address the general public on its final position on the proposed local government elections in the state and the duplicitous pretensions of EINSEC to give the false impression to the unwary that it is an electoral body.”
They lauded the party’s candidates for “their doggedness in pursuing their electoral cases through the courts, and most especially our victorious house of reps candidate in Igboeze North/Udenu Federal Constituency, Oby Aji.
