Matthew Egomo, chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ikom Local Government Area (LGA) of Cross River State, was kidnapped on November 19 along with his son.
Near the Afi River in Nde Ward, around 15 kilometers from the Ikom Local Government Area headquarters, they were abducted.
According to reports, the five-man gang that kidnapped the APC chairman has been neutralized by the police.
SP Irene Ugbo, the public information officer for the State Police Command, said she was unaware of the event but will find out.
Meanwhile, a nursery school owner who was taken hostage in the same Ikom LGA a few weeks ago has reportedly paid ransom of about N50 million to the kidnappers.
