On Wednesday, Taiwo Oyekanmi, the director of finance to the office of the governor of Ogun State, was murdered by masked assailants.

The accountant was ambushed and fatally shot on Abeokuta’s famous Kuto Bridge, according to MISMOB reporting. He had withdrawn a substantial sum of money from a bank less than three kilometers away.

The shooters also made off with an undisclosed sum.

Oyekanmi was brutally murdered just days after his birthday, according to sources at the government office.

Oyekanmi was taken to the state hospital in the Ijaye region of Abeokuta, where he passed away, according to sources who spoke with MISMOB.

Reports indicate that his family has been informed of his passing, and Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Tokunbo Talabi, was present at the funeral to offer his condolences as of the report’s writing.

Upon being contacted, Omolola Odutola, a spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, verified the occurrence but emphasized that there were no casualties.

The occurrence was confirmed and Oyekanmi’s death was confessed by Abiodun Alamutu, the commissioner of police, when he was summoned.

“The accountant, the director of finance, the driver, and another individual departed for a bank this afternoon to make some withdrawals,” the police chief added.
