Goodluck Jonathan, the country’s ex-president, has indicated that if Governor Douye Diri had lost his reelection attempt, he would have moved his mother from Bayelsa State to Abuja.
According to Jonathan, the election of Diri as governor of Bayelsa State means the state will be safer due to the governor’s resolve to combat insecurity.
While in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State, he had the opportunity to meet with Diri.
The former president stated the achievements of tackling insecurity in the state would have been squandered if Diri was defeated.
We don’t want to plunge the state into catastrophe until absolutely necessary,” Jonathan stated. The election has been deemed successful and the results have been announced.
We’re asking people to accept the election results and get behind the governor because we think he won. Let’s rally around him so that the state can make progress.
Nothing that would set the state backwards should be allowed. We need to plan for the future of the state, and that means addressing the problem of internal stability first. Significant progress has been made in the last three years plus with regard to cultism, kidnapping, etc.
If Diri had lost the election, I had planned to move my mother to Abuja, I said so before the election.
