Ahmed Musa Ibeto, a former deputy governor of Niger state and Nigeria’s ambassador to South Africa, along with two other prominent PDP members, have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Other notable politicians who switched parties include Ibrahim Egbo, a former representative for the Lapai Agaie federal seat, and Alhaji Abubakar Azozo, a former commissioner for Niger State’s water resources.
Ibeto, who submitted himself and the other two at the state APC secretariat in Minna, predicated his decision on the purposeful leadership style of Governor Mohammed Umar Bago.
“I’m back at APC, and it feels like coming home. Many others, including supporters from rival political parties, are en route to APC, he said.
Ibeto was questioned if money or a political position had influenced his choice, and he responded, “My decision was based on my personal conviction because all the problems that forced me out of APC before are no longer there in the current administration of Mohammed Umar Bago.”
Also, Alh Aminu Musa Bobi, the APC state chairman, said that the party has begun building a database of all political appointees in the state to make them more transparent and approachable to the general public.
