A former councillor is among seven people detained by the Enugu State Police Command in connection with suspected crimes committed in the Enugu metropolitan area.
A statement was released by DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the state’s police public relations officer, in which it was stated that six weapons, sixteen live cartridges, and a stolen motor vehicle were seized from the six suspects.
According to the PPRO, six individuals, including former lawmaker Henry Agbo Ogbonna, were arrested on December 6 by police operatives from the Abakpa Police Division who worked with the Neighboring Watch Group.
According to him, the ex-lawmaker was from Enugu South Local Government Area’s Ikiriki Ward 6.
“Before escaping, the suspect and his accomplices had assaulted their male victim, stole his phones, and his Toyota Camry car,” he added.
He revealed that they were about to go when the police swooped down on them, apprehended the criminal, and seized the car and one locally-made double-barreled weapon.
