The passing of Rotimi Akeredolu, governor of Ondo State, has been mourned by Akinwunmi Adesina, president of the African Development Bank (AfDB).

The 67-year-old Akeredolu passed away on Wednesday at a hospital in Lagos, according to the DAILY POST.

After a long struggle with leukemia, he passed away.

In his official X reaction to the news of the governor’s death, Akinwunmi referred to him as a brother and friend.

The death of Ondo State Governor Akeredolu, a brother and friend of mine, has grieved me.

You battled valiantly. The race was completed by you. You had a generous spirit. You unwaveringly served your people. Your loved ones and the residents of Ondo State are in my prayers. Goodbye, Aketi.
