Nigerians are urged to report any instances of extortion or harassment to the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).
In a statement released on Monday in Abuja, NIMC acting Director-General Mrs. Abisoye Coker-Odusote made the announcement.
“NIMC has received allegations of individuals posing as Front End Partners (FEPs) demanding money from the general public in exchange for enrolling them in the NIN program. Despite the fact that they are now undergoing revalidation.
You can contact us through our website, social media pages, or support hotline if you experience any problems. Your reports will assist us ensure that the NIN enrollment process stays open and accessible to all Nigerians,” she said.
Coker-Odusote further stated that the commission’s dedication to providing Nigeria with a reliable and widely accepted identity management system remained unchanged.
She emphasized that NIMC would take a firm stance against any form of extortion or mistreatment of residents at enrollment centers.
We wish to speak out against and rectify these illegal acts. It cannot be stressed enough that such conduct is not only immoral, but also criminal.
She emphasized that there is absolutely no tolerance for such behavior and that offenders would be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
