On Friday, police arrested Abdullahi Isa for dehumanizing, locking up, and starving his wife for nearly two years in Maiduguri Metropolitan, Borno State.

The woman was seen being carried into a waiting ambulance in a viral video.

According to the Daily Post, the incident occurred on Friday in the Gwange Three Area of Maiduguri, the state capital, and was witnessed by women and children’s rights activist Comrade Lucy D. Yunana.

Bulama of Gwange (3) escorted her workers to the suspect’s residence, where the woman had been imprisoned for nearly two years, she explained.

“The suspect, Isa Abdullahi of Gwange (3) in Maiduguri Metropolitan Council, is the survivor’s (name withheld) husband.”

“We were told that it was the neighbors who fed her; she had not been given food, but most of the time, neighbors would sneak in and feed her.”

“Fortunately, our staff were conducting some SGBV awareness in Gwange when Bulama of the area took our staff to the house where she was locked in, and what they saw was indeed terrible, prompting us to notify the relevant authority in order to save the woman’s life.”

“We went there with the Human Rights Commission’s Zonal Coordinator, Barr. Jumai Mshelia, and saw her in the room; what we saw in the room was in a bad and dehumanized condition.” The individual was apprehended by officers from the Gwange Division of Police and is currently being held at the police station.”

Comrade Lucy went on to say that she contacted the appropriate officials, and the woman was transferred to the hospital for treatment, where physicians are presently working on her.

However, the suspect, Isa Abdullahi, claimed that they had seven children together, all of whom are deceased, and that her wife has been tortured by an evil spirit, which is why he locked her up.
